The rabbit jumps
Unnoticed
Behind the trees
It runs
Hidden from me
Disappearing in the hole
Creature of the earth
Down his tunnel he goes
Reaching his burrow
By another opening
He knows he can escape
If someone sees him
But quick he is
Running and jumping at dusk
When no one is watching

A simple winter morning, magnificent in all its beauty!

20160305_072328

20160305_072233

Can we really speak of simplicity when all this complexity is in front of our eyes?

What would we be without nature and its biodiversity?  Nothing

We need nature but she does not need us

When we’ll have destroyed it

She will slowly regenerate

But it will not be us or our descendants that will be enjoying it

Because when we will have annihilated her

Humanity will have perished

It is not too late

Let’s be conscious of our behaviours

And take action without delay!

I have been out of the blogosphere for a few days: My new and first grandson arrived on Monday. He’s absolutely perfect !

20151111_184245-2jours

Waiting for him was a very stressful time for me, having lost a healthy girl at birth 34 years ago, I constantly doubted a happy outcome. Thank God my daughter did not have to live through this horrible experience and all went well with her and the baby.

I started a series of small canvases during her pregnancy and here are two that express the expectations but also the total unknown that opens up once you know you are growing a life inside of you.

Le voyage (The trip)

The mother is entering a forest
Walking towards a small lake
There are clouds of uncertainty ahead but
Hope is carrying her throughout this journey

Vers l’inconnu (Towards the unknown)

The mother leaves doubts behind her
She will come out of the forest of uncertainty
With confidence towards a new unknown world
Filled with love, enchantment and devotion

Marie et la chatte ©2014 Suzanne Bélair Huile sur toile 24 X 30 po

Huile sur toile 24 X 30 po

This painting was created for the book cover of Louis-Philippe Hébert’s poetry-novel called “Marie Réparatrice” published in November 2014.

It is impossible not to fall in love with young Marie, this 8 year old child witnessing violence, and ready to sacrifice a bit of her own life to repair animals and people around her. A small sensitive girl that loves and who thinks that to give, one must lose something and is prepared to lose because she loves.

2015-Marie-reparatrice-11329885_10204222014451136_3707979942602333269_nThe book, published by Les Editions de La Grenouillère, has been chosen as finalist for 2015 Governor general of Canada’s Litterary prizes in the “Youth litterature-  text” category.

The selection of finalists and winners is made by a peer-review jury chosen by the Canada Council for the Arts. This year, more than 550 works in French and close to 1000 in English were submitted.

I am really happy to have been part of this wonderful project !

The book has been translated in Roumanian and will soon be available in English.

The wind gently pushes the fallen leaves over the lake surface creating some patterns difficult to describe, bringing them together, the lighter ones stopping on top or beside the thicker ones, touching, fighting to stay afloat. Some start to sink a bit. All will end up  at the bottom of the lake. On the top of some leaves, reminders of life, small cocoons, needles, miniature insects that have not yet given up on their cycle of life. Aquatic plants are peeking from underneath, still reaching for the sun despite the barrier now in place.

This painting as well as 3 others paintings of mine will be auctioned at the Shield of Athena Family Services’ annual auction at Ogilvy’s Tudor Hall in Montreal on November 8th, 2015.

I am happy these paintings were chosen for this prestigious auction and that I can participate and help with this important cause.

In fall, deep red invades this bush and its reflection in the lake water.

This little bush has survived over the years despite erosion and its roots being eaten by baby beavers sometimes. We have stabilized it now and love to watch its vivid color each fall.

Waiting

Perfect net waiting in the early morning fog

Balancing in the soft wind, its creator is not around

But will surely be back !
