The Circuit des Arts Memphremagog is just around the corner and this year marks its 25th anniversary. This event gives visitors the opportunity to admire and purchase artworks from professional artists, see their creative space and admire beautiful vistas along the road. I truly enjoy this event and meeting people that show up at my studio door during the Circuit.

As usual, I will have two rooms full of paintings and many new works. Situated at 123 rue Du Lac des Sittelles in Austin, my Township studio will be open from 10 am until 5 pm starting July 21st to the 29th . There is also a collective exhibit at the Magog Visual Art Center, located at 61 Merry north in Magog where each artist is showing one piece of artwork representing his or her production.

For more information, go on the Circuit’s website: Just click here.

I am also participating in the 20th Edition of the Bromont en Art Symposium that takes place in the Old village of Bromont from August 24th to 26th from 10 am to 6pm. For more information please click here.

There is also an exhibit from July 7th to 15th at the St-Patrick cultural center in Bolton East where I will have one piece of art showing with other regional artists.

Everyone welcome!

Here are two spring exhibitions I am participating in :

The first one is for the wonderful Spring exhibit from the Lakeshore Association of Artists I am part of. This year again, approximately 45 artists will exhibit at the Fritz Farm Community Center, located at 20477 Lakeshore road in Baie d’Urfé H9X 1R3. One third of artwork sales and all raffle tickets sales will be donated to NOVA West Island, a non-profit health care organization that supports the people of the West Island, offering services such as palliative and oncology care, grief programs for children and adults, home support and adult day centers.

The opening takes place tonight on Friday, April 20th from 7pm to 9:30pm and the exhibition continues on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd from 10am to 5pm.

Do not miss this special event! It will be my pleasure to see you there on Friday night and Sunday morning.

The second exhibition brings together for the first time in Drummondville «the elites of contemporary representational art», the members of the Institut des Arts figuratifs who exhibit from April 19 to April 29, 2018. The vernissage will be held Sunday, April 29 from 3pm and all the exhibiting artists will be present.

The Axart Gallery is situated at 219 rue Hériot, in the heart of downtown Drummondville. The gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday from noon to 5 pm I will be there on April 29th with my colleagues from the IAF.

Hope to see you there !

From November 22nd to 26th 2017, a unique exhibition and sale of artworks, unique called De la couleur contre la douleur (Color against suffering) will be held at the St-Lambert Multifunctional Center (81, ave. Hooper, St-Lambert). For its ninth edition, 39 artists will present more than 500 original paintings, all of the same dimensions (10 in x 10 in) and sold at the unique price of 100$ (cash only). This activity will be held within the framework of the 2017 campaign of twelve days for the elimination of violence against women that takes place every year. Part of the sales will be donated to the Fédération des maisons d’hébergement pour femmes (FMHF), that regroups 36 women shelters for those dealing with multiple social issues.

This exhibition and sale is organised by the group Artistes de cœur, made up of about forty selected artists, which I am part of, and mainly coming from the Monteregie area but also from Montreal, Quebec, Sherbrooke and Lanaudiere areas. We wish, with this exhibition, to promote engaged art by making accessible artworks from artists painters to a large public, and also support women and children that live with violence and find refuge in a women’s shelter.

The opening will take place on November 22nd from 6 pm to 9 pm and I will be showing 16 paintings during this unique event of special size, special price, special cause. Why not get a few as gifts or to make an arrangement on one of your walls?

Please forward this invitation to your family and friends.

I hope to see you there on November 22nd!

Suzanne

In between working on the 10 X 10 series, I also completed another two square paintings, these being 12 X 12 for one special exhibit: “Square” which will take place on November 11th, details below. The last two were painted on wood which presented another challenge. Even after two coats of gesso, I found the paint was still soaking right in and I had to rework the colors in order to soften them some.

Here they are along with the invitation:

I will be happy to welcome you on the beautiful site that is Stewart Hall, where I will be exhibiting some new 2016 works as well as other favourites. My site # 10 is located on the lower part of the grounds, near the parking area.

A portion of sales will go to On Rock Community Services and Food Bank

The show still goes on even if it rains. The exhibit will then take place inside instead of outside.

I will be showing my new forests collection and new canvases of my « Traces » series.

Please forward this invitation to your family and friends.

I hope to see you there!

Been travelling through the Maritimes for a few weeks visiting and looking for art galleries and museums.

20160817-DSC_0827-NS-cabot-trail

There has not been that much time to just walk and enjoy local art though.

What I found in Nova Scotia is that most local art is folk art. Galleries that define themselves as showing “Fine art” can comprise anything from paintings, to tole painting to photographs and a lot of giclées and reproductions. On the famous Cabot Trail, one said “Fine art gallery” even sold chocolates. We found this disappointing.

We found a really fun gallery in Petite Rivière, The Painted saltbox, owned and run by two artists Tom Alway and Peter Blais. This gallery and garden are worth the stop. The two owners are not only talented but so much fun to talk with. They seem to truly enjoy what they are doing and sharing their “joie de vivre”. The gallery displays their originals as well as various size reproductions of their own art. A very upbeat and happy place to visit.

In PEI, we found a nice gallery in the French River area, that of Tony Diodati.

This two floors gallery includes the artist studio and his art was quite interesting, comprising his own brightly coloured PEI scenes and reproductions.

Our trip continues…Tomorrow, we are moving from Shediac to St-Léonard for the Symposium Rendez-vous des Artistes in which I am a participating artist.
We are setting up tomorrow and the event runs from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st.
That should be a lot of fun with nightly activities for artists and visitors alike.
